Who is the Pulmonologist?

A pulmonologist is a physician specializing in the treatment of diseases of the respiratory tract, including lungs, airways (mouth, nose, pharynx, larynx and trachea) and respiratory muscles.

What does a Pulmonologist do?

Pulmonologists are trained to diagnose, treat and prevent respiratory illnesses. They have a broad understanding of the impact that respiratory diseases have on other interconnected organ systems and treat a wide range of respiratory diseases and disorders, including asthma, bronchitis, lung cancer and DPOC.

Does the pulmonologist treat all types of lung and respiratory problems?

Yes, pulmonologists treat all types of respiratory problems. They act as the only specialist in treating certain conditions. These treatments may also involve a general practitioner, family physician, oncologist, rheumatologist, thoracic surgeon, cardiologist, geneticist, allergist, respiratory therapist, and critical care specialist.

When should I see a pulmonologist ?

Preventive consultation is very important to avoid a series of diseases and respiratory conditions. In addition, people who have chronic lung diseases, such as asthma, should be up to date with their appointment, as they need continued treatment. In addition to regular visits, there are some signs that show the need to make an appointment. For example:

What tests can a pulmonologist recommend?

A pulmonologist can recommend imaging tests based on the patient’s symptoms and condition. Some of these tests are – chest x-rays (to assess overall lung health), chest CT scans (to check for signs of lung cancer, emphysema, etc.), bronchoscopy (to examine the airway) and chest scans (to check for signs of lung cancer, emphysema, etc.), study pleural space and space within the chest). It may also prescribe a study of respiratory function, such as spirometry.

How can I schedule a Teleconsultation through CLINICA do PULMÃO?

In the Patient menu you will find the Step by Step option where the entire procedure for scheduling your teleconsultation is explained.

  1. Choose your doctor and confirm your availability.
  2. Click on APPOINTMENTS.
  3. After booking, you will receive Teleconsulta’s prepayment data in your email. You can do this through an ATM or MBWAY reference. Payment must be made within the following 24 hours.
  4. After making the payment, you will receive confirmation of the appointment and the respective invoice/receipt by email.
  5. On the day of the Teleconsultation, minutes before the scheduled time, you will receive a link by email and sms to call your doctor by video call. You should wait for your doctor to start the teleconsultation. Ensure good internet access and allow access to the camera and microphone of your smartphone, tablet or computer, in a place with good light and no noise.

How can I access prescriptions and/or declarations?

After the teleconsultation ends, you will receive in your email, if any, the prescription of medications, exams and treatments. As well as, if requested, a declaration of attendance and a medical certificate.

Are Teleconsultations a safe service?

Yes. The Clinica do Pulmão’s Teleconsultations are carried out through a platform that is compatible with the General Data Protection Regulation (RGPD) and complies with Regulation nº010/2015 of the General Directorate of Health on telemedicine.

What is the value of Teleconsultation?

The teleconsultation has a value of 60 €

How is the payment for Teleconsultation made?

Clínica do Pulmão has two forms of payment: ATM reference and MBWAY. When you schedule your Teleconsultation, you will receive an email with payment details, which must be made within the following 24 hours. After payment you will receive an email with your invoice.

How is access to video consultation done?

Teleconsultation is carried out on a platform designed for this purpose, without the need for an application or download. 5 minutes before the scheduled time, you will receive an SMS and email with access to the Teleconsultation. You should ensure that you have a good internet connection and allow access to the camera and microphone of your smartphone, tablet or computer, and wait for the doctor to start the consultation.

Is it possible to share files with the doctor during the Teleconsultation?

No. If you have test results to show your doctor, you will have to send them to results@clinicadopulmao, 24 hours before the appointment. To ensure greater confidentiality of data, the Clinica do Pulmão team sends the information securely and in a timely manner.
